Steve Knighton
Vice President, General Manager
I was naturally drawn to construction because I love to create and build things. But over time, I've discovered it's even more rewarding to build and develop talented individuals and teams, and watch them accomplish great things, even the 'impossible'.
Proven experience
With more than 25 years in the construction industry, I have the privilege of serving as Vice President and General Manager for Mortenson鈥檚 Data Center operations. My role covers everything from project acquisition and relationship building to guiding our teams through preconstruction and construction services, as well as business development. I do my best to bring a strategic focus and a collaborative spirit to every project, drawing on hands-on experience with complex work. I genuinely enjoy working alongside talented colleagues and partners to help move projects from the earliest design stages all the way to a project鈥檚 completion.
Achievements
I earned my Bachelor of Science in construction management, along with a minor in business management, from Brigham Young University. I鈥檓 grateful to be a DBIA and LEED Accredited Professional, and it was a real honor to be named to the 2015 Top 20 Under 40 class for Engineering News-Record鈥檚 Southwest region.
Collaborative leadership
I care deeply about making sure our teams have the resources and support they need to deliver complex, mission-critical projects on time and within budget. I enjoy working closely with our regional general managers and project teams to maintain high standards and create a seamless client experience, no matter where we鈥檙e building. My approach is all about collaboration, innovation, and a genuine commitment to delivering value and predictability for our customers.
